Understanding pallet dimensions is essential for efficient shipping, proper load planning, and accurate freight quotes. The most widely used pallet in the United States is the GMA (Grocery Manufacturers Association) pallet, also known as a standard 48″ x 40″ pallet.

What Are the Standard Pallet Dimensions?

  • Length: 48 inches (1.22 meters)
  • Width: 40 inches (1.02 meters)
  • Height (with load-bearing deck): Typically 5.5–6 inches
  • Standard weight capacity: Up to 2,500 lbs (approx. 1,134 kg)
  • Material: Usually wood, but also available in plastic or metal
