Several West Coast Ports Closed Due to ILWU Negotiations
- June 5, 2023
Several West Coast ports were closed without notice on Friday, June 2 in response to ongoing wage disputes between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA).
Additionally, Total Terminals International (TTI) has cancelled all gates today (Monday, June 5).
At this time, this is a fluid situation, and it is unclear whether additional closures will occur. However, importers utilizing the Ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Tacoma, Seattle, and Hueneme may experience disruptions to cargo discharge, availability, and rail departures in the coming days.
Shapiro is actively monitoring the situation and will provide status updates as they become available.
