BALTIMORE, MD – TheWorld Trade Center Institute (WTCI) and the Maryland Department of Commerce are proud to present the 2020 Maryland International Business Leadership Awards. In its 24th year, the awards recognize leaders who represent businesses across the state.

The Maryland International Business Leadership Awards honor those who truly exemplify Maryland’s success. The individuals selected for the awards have played major roles in their company’s international growth and are dedicated to giving back to the local community. In addition to the International Leadership Awards, the Governor’s Award and the Global Visionary Award will be presented to two individuals who are shining examples of what Maryland has to offer the world.

This year, Margie Shapiro, President and CEO of Shapiro, was recognized by WTCI and the Maryland Dept. of Commerce with the 2020 Maryland International Business Leadership Award.

“It’s an honor to have been nominated for the Maryland International Business Leadership Award this year. I am truly humbled to have been chosen and recognized as one of Maryland’s most influential leaders”, says Margie Shapiro.

For the 2020 awards program, WTCI’s selection committee reviewed nearly 100 nominations, conducted thorough interviews, and narrowed the list down to a handful of recipients.

On April 1, 2020, the business community is invited to celebrate the accomplishments of the award recipients, network with global business leaders, and acknowledge the state’s strides toward building international business at the Maryland International Business Leadership Awards reception at American Visionary Art Museum. Last year, WTCI was joined by Governor Larry Hogan and over 350 business leaders, including more than 70 C-suite executives at the sold-out event.
