First Round of Section 301 List 1 Exclusions Expiration Update

On Thursday, December 19th, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced that just 6 (six) exclusions from the first round of Section 301 tariff exclusions on List 1 goods will be granted extensions.

As the exclusions for the first round of List 1 goods were set to expire on December 28th, 2019, this means that the 6 (six) identified products will retain their exclusionary status from additional tariffs for another year (until December 28th, 2020).

The USTR failed to mention the remaining 25 (twenty-five) products that were included in the first round of List 1 goods excluded from Section 301 tariffs, which leads us to believe that the exclusionary status of these products will expire on December 28th, 2019.

The following 6 (six) HTS codes were granted an extension, and they will retain their exclusionary status until December 28th, 2020:

  • 8418.69.0120
  • 8525.60.1010
  • 8420.10.9080
  • 8481.90.9040
  • 9022.14.0000
  • 9032.10.0030

The following 15 (fifteen) HTS codes, covering 25 (twenty-five) products, were NOT granted an extension, and their exclusionary status is set to expire on December 28th, 2019:
